There has been alleged corruption within the government and severe governmental and economic issues. al-Abadi vowed to make reforms. To address these issues he recently changed his cabinet in hopes of gathering support from the religious leaders and the people. However, this has caused political opposition by Kurds, Sunnis, and Shiites. Many officials in his new cabinet are not part of Iraq's major political parties, which is causing upset.

Haider al-Abadi is part of the Shia Islamic Dawa party and is tasked with rebuilding relations with the Kurds and Sunnis. Tension is high with Islamic State militants occupying parts of Iraq. Can he bring about a new era for Iraq?

Who's Haider al-Abadi, the man who will lead Iraq?

US continues support for a "unified, federal, and democratic Iraq...." In a recent meeting, United States Vice President Biden, Haider al-Abadi, and Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani discussed their plans for Iraq's economic recovery and for their dedication to take down ISIL.

Haider al-Abadi is dedicated to bringing down ISIS and sees his plan to be successful. He has plans to take back the city of Mosul from terrorist groups. He has hope for ISIS's collapse this year, 2016. However, he has concerns on Syria not taking more action against these militant groups.
